It’s very unreal to say the least
But not uncommon that we repeat the history of those who put us in this world.
It is very unreal to see nature turn against its creator
Because there is no real deal
There is no perfection
Even nature is not perfect so how could I be?
But blood will crawl where it cannot run
And rest assured fake blood always runs thin.
I claimed the real deal from the gods who sardonically
Laughed away my accusations of divine abuse, after all I was only a puny human.
Me too I am not evil, as evil doesn’t like the real deal.
But deep down inside I can see my soul and heart battered and scarred, still yearning
To beat and crave childlike innocence.
Could it be?
I could not wish for my enemy to rot in hell or have his intestines incinerated
For the enemy lives within all of us.
The enemy is the one thing in us that thrives on hate and doesn’t allow us to live and love;
it is the lack of self-confidence, the lack of ability to forgive one another and oneself.
That is what seems unreal a deal.

The Prime minister Martens of Belgium ruled with special powers for for more than a decade, and promised the naive Belgian folk that the end of the crisis was in sight. He saw light at the end of the tunnel and let the people believe that we could demonstrate against placing nukes in Belgium. Not informing the Belgians that the deal of placement was already sealed with the USA the day before the a hundred thousand Belgians marched through the capital against it.

MICHAEL JACSKON was an inspiration to many, also to me, I adored him as an artist, but some of his weird behaviour that caught the press' attention caught my eye too.

THE GANG FROM NIJVEL 1985

In 1985 a gang known as the Bende van Nijvel terrorized Belgium with brutal attacks on supermarkets and mawing down people at random, there was a giant among them known as "de Reus". They never caught them. It was believed they were financed by the extreme right to destabilize Belgium.

I made this cartoon about them collecting a stamp at the unemployment service (you needed to sign on everyday with your pink card). It was crisis and I see parallels with the crisis today.

I have never seen so many reports on gangsters in Belgium as back then. I made loads of government critical cartoons. "we're at the end of the tunnel our Prime minister Martens used to say.
